Punjabi food is a rich food which is prepared with gravy and butter. Punjab has a super verity of vegetarian recipes as well as non-vegetarian dishes. It is usually enjoyed by people of all communities.
Traditional Punjabi thali consists of varied kinds of breads, subji (vegetables), Achar, papad, salad, lassi and kheer. Breads are made from wheat or maize flour. It can be made with different method. Some bread are baked in the tandoor such as tandoori roti, lachha paratha, naan and kulcha, while are others dry baked on tava like chapati and jowar ki roti. Rumali roti is the fabulous variety of bread which is larger than normal. Shallow fry bread is known as paratha and deep fried such as puri and bhatoora.
Rice is generally eating on festivals and other occasions. Rice is cooked in sugar cane juice.
The hallmarks of Punjabi food are dal makhani , sarso da sag and makke di roti.
Dal makhani, dal maharani, dal amritsari, rajma, choley, sarson da saag are some of the renowned dishes of Punjabi food made from Pulses, Beans or lentils.
