Nan Khatai

Eggless Indian biscuit which is serve with tea. They are most like to be flavoured with some of the usual ingredients like- green cardamom, saffron, pista. In ancient time nankhatai had been made with the use of thali with fire coal. Nowadays we are mostly using microwave. Nan Khatai are so easy to prepare and will take very little of your time. You can serve it on a tea party or kitty party.

Almond Biscuits
Ingredients
- 4 table spoons butter
- 1/4 tea spoon baking powder
- 1/2 cups powdered sugar (sieved)
- 1/3 cups (50 grams) icing sugar
- 2-3 drops almond or vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup maida
- 8 tables spoon almond powder
- 2 table spoons milk
- A few almond pieces and glazed cherries for decoration.
Instructions
- Cream the butter very well until it is light and creamy. Add sugar and cream it again.
- Sieve the flour and baking powder together. Mix the almond powder to the flour.
- Mix the cream mixture. Add just enough milk to make a soft dough. Divide the dough into small balls. Press them and roll very lightly.
- Grease a backing tin and arrange the biscuits leaving a little space between them.
- Top with almonds and small slices of glazed cherries. Refrigerate the tray for half an hour.
- Bake the biscuits in a hot oven at 180 C (350 F) for 15 to 20 minutes.
- When the biscuits become light pink at the base, remove the baking tin from the oven. Cool the biscuits on the tray and then remove. store in an air tight container.
Further Details
Do not add a lot of milk or the biscuits would become hard.
