Spicy Cake

Ingredients For Dhokalas

  • 250 grams idli or dhokala flour
  • ½ cup curds
  • table spoons oil
  • table spoons water
  • 1 tea spoons soda
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients For Green Peas Stuffing

  • 100 grams green peas
  • 2 table spoons oil
  • ½ tea spoon mustard seeds
  • 1 tea spoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tea spoons ginger-chilli paste
  • 1 lime
  • 2 tea spoons sugar
  • 1 tea spoon garam masala
  • 50 grams coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients For Corn Stuffing

  • 200 grams corn
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 table spoons ghee or oil
  • ½ tea spoon sesame seeds
  • A pinch asafortida
  • 1 tea spoon turmeric powder
  • 1 lime
  • 2 tea spoons sugar
  • 1 tea spoons garam masala
  • 1 tea spoon chilli paste
  • Tomato sauce
  • Salt to taste

For Decoration

Shrikhand chakka(maska), carrots, beetroot, cucumber, tomato, capsicum.

Instructions

  • Prepare dhokla batter from idli flour with luke warm water. Add salt and curds one hour before preparing dhokla.
  • While making dhokla add boiled mixture of oil, water and soda. Make about 3 thalis of dhokla.
  • Cool and cut into heart shaped pieces. (shape can also be round)
  • Crush green peas. Heat a little oil in a vessel. Add mustard seeds, sesame seeds ginger-chilli paste, peas and salt.
  • When cooked, add all masalas and cool it.
  • Grate corn. Add milk to it and cook it. Heat a little ghee or oil in a vessel and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, asafortida, cloves-cinnamon powder and turmeric powder. Add grated corn to it.
  • Add all the masala and cool.
  • Prepare the chakka from curds. Take one piece of dhokla . spread a layer of chakka on it. Then place peas stuffing.
  • Apply chakka to the lower side of the dhokla. Place it on peas stuffing. Place corn stuffing over it. Apply sauce and place third layer.
  • Apply chakka to all the sides with butter knife. Decorate with carrots, tomatoes, and beetroots on all sides.
