Ingredients For Batatawada
1) 500 grams potatoes (Batata)
2) Oil for frying
3) ½ tea spoon cumin seeds
4) 1 tea spoon til
5) 2 tea spoons chilli –ginger paste
6) 3 table spoons coriander leaves (finely chopped)
7) ½ tea spoon citric acid
2 tea spoons sugar
9) 2 tea spoons arrow – root flour
10) 1 tea spoon garam masala
11) A few cashewnuts
12) A few raisins
13) 150 grams chana flour
14) ½ tea spoon chilli powder
15) ¼ tea spoon turmeric powder
16) 4 tea spoons rice flour
17) Salt to taste
Recipe For Batata Wada
1) First of to make batatawada we need to grate poteto (Batata) and boil it. Do not pour cold water on the potatoes (Batata).
2) Heat 2 tea spoons of oil in a kadhai, add cumin seeds and til for seasoning. Then add chilli-ginger paste, coriander leaves, citric acid ,sugar and arrow-root flour.
3) When it cools down, add mashed potatoes. Add salt, cashew nuts, raisins and spices.
4) Make small balls from the mixture.
5) Make batter of chana flour. Add a little salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and rice flour. Dip the balls in this batter and fry them, in hot oil. And you batatawada is ready.
Serve batatawada with souce, catchup , curd or sometime gujrati people take it with tea.
Batata wada has another spelling batata vada as well as in gujrati it is called bataka wada / bateta vada but these all are same
